Amazing Grace

This song was written in the 17th century and it even today has the fragrance of the divine connection that Sir John Newton probably had at that time. This song always enchanted me when i listened to it all through my church days. Back then, only the melody pleased and even when sung, never knew the indepth meaning of it. Today, when the church and temple, Christ and Shiva, God and Guru are all one for me, this song also renders a different meaning for me.

More than a passion of wanting to sing this song, as i sung, i realized how similar our life stories are. How similar situations are. How similar this song also is for most of us, especially for those whom the Guru appeared at the time when one was getting lost.

The journey is weary. The journey is not easy. But our persistence and love and faith in the Master can make all the difference to the journey. Here is an effort with this beautiful audio and video,  to re-live my childhood moments, re-live the writer's moments and re-live the journey of yours and mine. Gratitude to Baba.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch (soul) like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
'Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

When we've been here ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we've first begun.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch (soul) like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
